Focke-Wulf Fw 200

He Focke-Wulf Fw 200, nicknamed the Condor, was a four-engine aircraft produced from the second half of the 1930s onwards. It was initially designed and operated as an airliner but, suitably modified and developed, during the Second World War it was also used as a maritime patrol aircraft and bomber, roles in which it earned the name of Scourge of the Atlantic. It was the first heavier-than-air aircraft to fly non-stop between Berlin and New York City, some 4,000 miles (6,400 km), making the flight from Berlin-Staaken to Floyd Bennett Field on 10/11 August 1938 in 24 hours and 56 minutes.
