Gotha Go 244
Derived from the Go 242 transport glider, it was characterised by the adoption of two engines positioned on the leading edge of the wing, while retaining the general twin-tail boom configuration that allowed the rear part of the fuselage, hinged upwards, to be raised for loading and unloading operations. It was used by the Luftwaffe during World War II from 1942 onwards, assigned to units based in Crete. source wikipedia |
