Heinkel He 162

The Heinkel He 162 "Salamander" was a single-engine jet fighter used by the Luftwaffe during the last stages of the Second World War. Introduced now when German technological resources were compromised by the result of the Allied counter-offensive, the He 162, although resulting ( in theory) technologically advanced and with superior performance to its peers at the time was not decisive in subverting the outcome of the conflict. Although made with non-strategic materials, it was nevertheless the fastest of the first generation jet fighters of both the Axis and the Allies. source wikipedia
